Susanna Kearsley, a highly acclaimed Canadian novelist, born and raised where she still resides today, is well known for her combination of history, the paranormal, and romance. Offering readers suspense and intrigue from her, she also uses the name Emma Cole when she writes classic suspense novels.

early years and personal life

Born and raised in Brantford, Ontario, Susanna Kearsley originally studied politics and international development, graduating before becoming a museum curator. Although this was not the most conventional start for a writer, it was to help her successfully inform much of the writing career that she would go on to pursue.

Having been raised in a family that read widely, she had a head start in a career that would consume much of her adult life. First published in 1993 with the novel ‘hangover’, susanna kearsley went on to write eight more novels. It was only in 1995 that she gained international recognition with her second novel (although ‘The Gemini Game’ was published in 1994) ‘Mariana’, which received the Catherine Cookson Prize for Fiction, which was sponsored by Transworld Publishers.

During this time, she also went by the name Emma Cole, under whom she wrote the crime novel ‘Every Secret Thing’. this thriller also earned him much praise, both critically and commercially. published in 2007, this decision was made because it was a slight departure from their usual paranormal romance novel fare. Immersing itself in the world of English and French history, this novel is set around chinon; the castle of legend It is here that the protagonist Emily finds herself after her cousin Harry invites her to meet him at the infamous castle. however, when she arrives, she is nowhere to be found, as she quickly discovers that she disappeared upon arrival at her hotel.
