dunbar attended tulane law school and practices law in new orleans, a city where he has lived for several years. Her legal practice took a major hit during the Hurricane Katrina disaster, although she never let that get him down, instead she used the experience to write a seventh novel in her Tubby Dubonnet series of novels. the whole experience of hurricane katrina had a very devastating effect on her practice as the mandatory evacuation meant she had no income. She had to resort to a job as a waitress in the parking lot of a Mississippi chemical plant that served food to which hundreds of workers were brought in to operate and clean the complex. But it wasn’t all doom and gloom for Dunbar. Because there was so much downtime on her job, she allowed him to write the first first-hand account of Hurricane Katrina ever published in novel format. Unlike the other novels in her repertoire, the novel is a bit more somber as it depicts the anarchy and chaos that pervade the deserted city in the first days after the storm. in fact, dunbar has claimed that writing the novel was a way of taking out her anger.
