Sometimes all it takes to create an avid reader is finding that perfect book. Remember when you picked out that perfect book, that special beginning to the series that you couldn’t wait to finish? These days, kids have so many more distractions—TV, video games, and shorter attention spans—that have led them to not actively read. Another factor that influences what children want to read is age. When children are around ten years old, they begin to expand their minds, their world, and begin to gain much more independence. they are changing physically, mentally and emotionally during this stage and are about to enter their adolescence. Tweens, as they’re called, want to see and do so much more in the world that curling up with a good book isn’t all that appealing anymore.
