American author raised in the city of portsmouth, virginia, v.c. Andrews was born on June 6, 1923. Dying of breast cancer on December 19, 1986, she had a long and illustrious career throughout her 63 years. Now that the IRS officially declared her name an asset, her estate has gotten a ghostwriter in the form of Andrew Neiderman to carry on her legacy.

Starting out as an artist, she had a successful early career as a commercial artist, as well as a portrait painter. Faced with the prospect of having to spend an eternity up there while their mother remains distraught, they try to come to terms with their own impending fate. dealing with betrayal and heartbreak from a mother who effectively abandoned them, they begin to deal with their own conflicting emotions in a very real way.

As they try to confront their anger at their mother for what she has done, they look within themselves as they come together and cope as best they can. Will they ever discover the truth behind her fate and what made her mother act this way? The first in the casteel series, this novel originally came out in 1985 and would mark the beginning of a five-part set of books. Observing the events of a West Virginia family, he charts the progress of the daughter named Sky as she overcomes the many hardships that have beset them all. Born to a young teenage mother who died during childbirth, now her hated father sells her along with her other siblings.

In the first of the series, readers meet the protagonist, the sky, who here turns out to be the kind and attractive daughter of an evil father. with a nasty stepmom too, both of them have worked hard, that is until the stepmom runs away. That leaves her in the hands of her malicious father, who decides to do something even more wicked than anything she’s come up with before.

Soon she does the unthinkable and sells herself to a partner thus forming a bond with her downtrodden and harassed husband. this leads to more torment as heaven is subject to more abuse from the wife. what follows is a harrowing sequence of events in which everyone has a part to play in the fate of her and her beloved siblings. Always hoping for the best, she tries to stay strong by fighting to retain her sense of self in the midst of all the turmoil.

Although this is considered a tragedy, it offers glimmers of hope as the sky remains a resilient protagonist in what is the beginning of an ongoing saga.
