As the book begins, Alice sees a missing man sitting on a bench next to her house. Due to his inquisitive nature, Alice questions why the man was sitting on the bench while he was struggling. However, Alice knows that he should stay out of it.
In the past, Alice suffered for some of the decisions she made. as time passes, he yearns more to know why the man is sitting on the bench while he is raining. After a brief conversation with the man, Alice discovers that the man has no idea who he is, how he got there, and where he came from.
After a long conversation with the strange man, Alice decides to invite the man to her house. In addition to Alice, author Jewell introduces readers to another character, Lily Monrose. Lily Monroe is a young woman of twenty-one, who in addition to being new to the country, is also a newlywed.
As dinner continues to get colder, lisa can only help but wonder what’s keeping her husband back. After waiting a while, Lisa decides to call the local police, who inform her that she must wait because her husband hasn’t been there for a long time.

However, Lily clearly knows something is wrong considering the fact that her husband has never been home from work late. she alice she clearly knows what time her husband gets home from work, so she even she could predict the exact time he might come in.
When Alice finally gets the police to take her seriously, the information she’s given shakes her to the core. Kirsty and Gray are teenagers who on their annual vacation run into a teenager, who begins to show an interest in Kirsty.
apart from the fact that kirsty is young, gray feels there is something off about the boy. Gray couldn’t immediately figure out what he was, but there was something about the boy that really made him quite uncomfortable.
by the looks of things, kirsty loves this young man and her parents, on the other hand, think gray is overreacting. lisa jewell has done a fantastic job of developing characters that are quite unforgettable. the animals in the narrative were just as entertaining, as were the humans.
despite the fact that i found you has several violent scenes, the author lisa jewell does not go overboard with her descriptions. she gives more than enough detail to make readers hold their breath. the birds are a family living a life many families can only admire in cotswold. the bird family’s hut is filled with children’s drawings and bricks. Father Colin is quite considerate while Beth and Meg, his two daughters, and Rhys and Rory, the twins, are kind, smart, and slimy. At the center of the bohemian world is mother lorelei, whose love for beautiful things and beauty hides her obsession that turns everything in her life into an unfathomable mess.
The House We Grew Up In begins in the year 2011 when Meg, now fully grown, enters the house she grew up in. Meg’s mother, Lorelei, recently passed away due to starvation. so meg is back in town to fix things.
the once picturesque house is now impenetrable, full of useless decorations, lots of billboards and newspaper towers. As he enters the house, Meg begins to reminisce about his childhood days and how his house used to be one of the best in Cotswold. Meg also remembers an Easter Sunday when the extended bird clan gathered to hunt for Easter eggs.
while participating in easter activities, rhys finds himself hanging from the rafters in his room. Rhys’s apparent suicide brings everyone down; Meg leaves his family and forms a new one with Bill; Rory, on the other hand, decides to run away to a commune before ending up in a Thai prison, Lorelei manages to force Bill out so that Vicky, her new lover, can move into the house.
In the novel, In the House We Grew Up In, author lisa jewell tackles so many difficult topics and manages to put a face on them. infidelity, hoarding, same-sex relationships, and denial all wind up in the protagonist’s family. author lisa jewell narrates all these themes from multiple perspectives, in real time and in flashbacks.
Many times telling these problems from multiple perspectives normally doesn’t work, but in, in the house we grew up in, it worked. jewell shows readers that people react and interpret differently to similar events. That said, the writing was brilliantly done, while the characters were well-crafted.
Readers will feel the tension between each of these characters and the strong ties that come from families. All in all, The House We Grew Up In is a moving and highly entertaining book.
